...the easy way or the hard way

Many of us live in a risk adverse culture where we look for the "safe" way and avoid trouble at all cost. The problem is that our God is not a risk free kind of God. He often calls us to outrageous things that make no sense to us.

In the Bible there are almost always obstacles along the route that God sends his people on.
  • Abraham was told to leave his homeland and "go into a land that I will show you"
  • Joseph's path to being second in charge of Egypt had pitstops in a well and prison
  • Esther saved the people of Israel at great risk to her own life
  • Israel fought numerous battles against superior forces to take land God had promised to them
Even though they faced numerous challenges, when they went the way God told them to go, against all odds, God came through for them.
The remarkable thing about spiritual initiative is that the life and power comes after we "get up and get going." God does not give us overcoming life–he gives us life as we overcome. Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for his Highest
Where is God calling you to take a step of faith, against all odds, and all human reason?

Stop looking for the easy way and take a step of faith, God's way.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only if you find it. Matthew 7:13-14
