ONE WAY TO BE PURPOSEFUL ABOUT THE INFLUENCES IN YOUR LIFE

I can't seem to find a way to keep from being influenced by things at work, home and in culture. So many things are part of our lives in America: TV, books, Facebook, magazines, radio, billboards, family and friends (to name a few). Some of these we can limit and some of them we will be exposed to whether we like it or not. 

However, we can be purposeful about the things that we want to allow into our brains. One of the mediums that I purposefully digest on a regular basis are podcasts. There are some great resources available that help educate, inform, encourage and motivate me. I'm providing a list of some of my favorite podcasts at the bottom of this post. 

We don't all have to listen to podcasts, but we should be intentional about what influences are in our lives. What you view, listen to and hear on a regular basis makes a difference in how you think. I Corinthians 15:33 says that "Bad company corrupts good morals." The people (and other influences) that you are surrounded by effect you one way or another. 

What are the influences in your life? Are they leading you toward or away from your relationship with Christ? What can you do to ensure you are surrounding yourself with Godly influences?
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.  Phillipians 4:8
If you have a smart phone or a computer you will have no problem downloading podcasts there (or you can click on the links below to listen to them on your computer).  

Here are a few of the podcasts I recommend:
Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast
This is a monthly podcast about leadership in and out of the work place. This podcast is amazing. Every time I listen to it, I walk away with something I want to apply at work or somewhere else in my life. 
EntreLeadership
This is a weekly podcast about business and leadership from Dave Ramsey's (well known Christian financial expert) organization. Though not overtly Christian, this podcast has lots of good material largely founded upon Biblical principles. It is entertaining and applicable.  
This podcast comes out Monday through Friday. It discusses mainly political (and other) events from a Christian world view. This one and the next one are great for balancing out what you get from the secular media.  
The World and Everything in it
This podcast also comes out Monday through Friday and provides news from a Christian world view.     
This is a weekly broadcast from Ravi Zacharias (renowned apologist). It is not work related but provides very thoughtful and reasoned views on many Christian issues. If you don't want to think about your faith, don't listen to this podcast.     
This podcast typically comes out on Fridays and talks about political news/issues concerning our nation from a Biblical world view from the previous week.
Focus on the Family
This is a daily broadcast concerning mainly family issues from a Christian world view. Lots of good material on marriage and parenting. It occasionally touches on work related issues.   
This is a weekly podcast that comes out on Thursdays; it is focused on Christian singles and occasionally touches on work related issues. 
Purity for Life
This podcast covers sexuality and the many related issues in our society.
