Because of my job in the navy, I have moved four times in the last four years. It has been difficult to build friendships and a sense of community when I spend so little time in any place. Fortunately, I have always been able to find social connection with other Christians.
We are not created to live and act alone. We are created to live and operate in community. Today we are more networked than ever but sometimes it seems like personal interactions with real people have gone down.
I have been very blessed to find community in a couple places. I hope one or more of these resources will be helpful to you or someone you know.
Church. It can be difficult to pick a church and stay long enough to become part of the social structure and to feel plugged in. However, doing things like volunteering in some aspect of ministry, joining a small group, going to a Sunday school class, or just inviting someone to eat lunch after a service can go a long way in building community.
The Navigators. Navigators is a para-church ministry that can be found all over the world. I have been involved with Navs for 14 years and think it is an outstanding ministry. They have an internet tool that you can use to find a member near you. You can send them a message and find out about local Bible studies, churches, and social events. If you are interested, click HERE.
Officer's Christian Fellowship (OCF). OCF is a military ministry that has Bible Studies and fellowship events on or near bases all around the world. I have attended OCF on and off for 10 years and have really enjoyed it. If interested in finding a group near you, click HERE.
Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). I have never attended BSF but a friend of mine told me about them. They also have groups all over the world. They can be found by clicking HERE.
If you know of any other groups or resources that might be helpful, please feel free to leave a comment about it.

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
